Stumps are often removed by two methods, grinding with a motorized stump grinder or excavation with a backhoe or excavator. The most common option is grinding where the stump is ground down below the soils surface, the area then can be loamed and reseeded or replanted. This process can be performed with a minimum amount of impact because the equipment is not much bigger than a commercial lawn mower. As long as there is access thru a gate of at least 36” and reasonably level ground a stump grinder a can do the job. The second option of using a larger piece of equipment such as back hoe, is often reserved for up partially uprooted stumps or for projects that require complete stump removal including the roots below grade. This often creates a lot of debris and disturbs large areas around the excavated stumps. We have equipment that allows us to perform either of these techniques.
